Who are the main characters in this chapter? ; Enrique, Lourdes, & Belky.

Have you ever been in a position where you knew something bad was going to happen similar to Enrique’s position? ; No, not that I can remember.

Do you support Lourdes decision? ; Yes and no, I understand that she had reason to leave but I think she should waited to be able to go America with her kids because her kids need her growing up.

Do you think she will come back? ; I’m not sure; I know that it is easy to say you do something but a lot harder to actually do.

Predict how Enrique’s attitude will change after he realizes his mother is gone. ; He’ll probably turn to drugs and crimes because he will not have his mother’s love to steer him away from those temptations.

Why do many children enter the U.S. illegally each year? ; In search of better lives or their irresponsible parents that left them alone.

Give examples of how dangerous the travel to America is. ; Children are robbed, raped, &/or murdered.

How is Enrique affected now that his father walked out on him? ; He feels that no one loves him, that there is no body there to take care of him.

Who does the father blame? ; The father blames Enrique for everything.

How does Belky feel about her mother being gone? ; She is sad but understands why she has left them behind.

Instead of going to school, what does Enrique do during the day? ; He decides to work full time instead of continuing his education.
